Australian Yellowbelly Championships
Welcome to the Australian Yellowbelly Championships,
These events are lure only fishing tournaments. Cast and retrieve as well as trolling are permitted in our events and we are all for catch and release. Fish are taken to designated marshals that will be located at strategic locations around the dams to measure and record your fish. All fish must swim away in good condition to count.
These fishing tournaments are 2 person team’s events with 6 rounds throughout the year along with a Grand Final at the end of the year. Grand Final is calculated on point score (best 3 events) or by finishing in the top 2 at an event. Your team can be as competitive as you like, try to make the Grand Final on point score and compete in a number of the rounds or simply just fish your home dam and hope for a top 2 to qualify. Or your team may just wish to fish a couple of the rounds and maybe pick up some prizes along the way.
One thing about these tournaments they are very social, a lot of new friends are made and teqniques learnt.
Doesn’t matter to us wether you fish in a small tinny or a 20’ glass boat with a big donk on the back. Just means that your weekend will be a cheaper one not having to pay for all that fuel.
So come on, don’t just sit on the fence and watch from a distance, organise a partner and enjoy some great fishing in fantastic locations and catch up with other people who also enjoy this great sport of ours.
